A New Year...New Goals

Hi to all my wonderful blog friends!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We did, and the memories are still lingering. I haven't wanted to take my Christmas decorations down yet! (A first for me.) I may just leave them up a few more weeks, before I switch to Valentine's.
I'm sorry I've been so silent on my blog. December was busy, and every time I thought about snapping a few pictures, the camera eluded me. (I did find it in the laundry room, after a good day of cleaning up!
Here are some of the things I got for Christmas!A new couch! (The other one was a love seat that we bought when we got married 16 years ago.) After it developed a big hole, we decided it was time for a new one!

A New plasma TV. Hubby bought it on "Black Friday" sale. Our other TV was older than a dinosaur. After trying to give it away, I looked on eBay to see if it was worth anything, and to my surprise we found one exactly like it, listed for 1200.00! Who knew it was so rare! I guess we will be listing ours, and hopefully we can pay for this one by selling it!

My wonderful Mom gave me this...

Cinnamon and Cocoa by Bunny Hill Designs
I absolutely love it! Doesn't it look great with my couch? I want to make the matching quilt called "Rabbits prefer embroidery". (Even bought some red and white fabric at a fabric sale last week to get going on it!)

On New Year's Eve I pulled out this....
Grandma's Porch by Carol Hopkin's Designs One of her Civil War Legacies Patterns.
(An exchange we did in my quilt guild last year)
Kim posted on her blog that she likes to work on a quilt for New Years. I thought it was a great idea, and I worked on this until about 10:30, when my internal clock told me it was time for bed!
I can't decide on borders, so it is just sitting on my sewing room floor at the moment.

I've been working on this during the holidays....
This is my oldest UFO project, started the year I was married in 1993. I debated several years ago, if it was worth finishing. My husband loves it, so I'm going to finish it for him. As you can see I've already stitched the year, so ... the pressure is on.

I did a bit of kitting...
Now this is what my kitted cross stitch projects looks like! It's a little overwhelming to see how many things I have to do...but I love that I can just pull something new out, whenever my stitcher ADD kicks in. I have a basket of new patterns that I have yet to kit. When I met Barb Adams from Blackbird, she related that many stitcher's, she has met, have a kitting fetish. That is so true of me! It gives one a sense of satisfaction to see all of these projects.

And finally my Christmas miracle...
I finally finished Sail Away! It was so hard to do that over-one stitching on the hill! It seemed that I would stitch on it for hours and never see any progress. I wish that I would have just done half crosses on the hill, as I ran out of floss towards the bottom, and could only do half crosses on that section. It is very hard to see, unless you hold it up to the light. I went through every finished Shepherd's bush project I had, and used every bit of that green silk that I could find. (Good thing they like that color to design with.)
Anyhow, it is great to be done with it! What a fun project to work on with friends.
Happy New Year to all my friends. Thanks for stopping by, and for your wonderful comments. They make my day!

Wow, Loraine, I don't know where to start with my comments. There are so many wonderful things to see!

Sail Away looks gorgeous and over one! What an accomplishment - congratulations!

I think it's true about the kitting up thing too. I feel like a kid playing with crayons!

Happy Stitching!

Loraine - I'm so happy to see you post again. Have missed you my friend. I don't even know where to start with all the goodies in this post. Love, love the couch! I'm a big fan of leather (we got some last year). I think that leather goes with so many things. And congrats on the TV too!!!

I love the piece that your mom made for you from Bunny Hill. I stalk that website and love her designs. I can't wait to see the quilt.

And wow, what a lot of kits you've put together!!! I think you've got a lot of stitching ahead of you!!

Happy New Year dear Loraine!!

And love the Civil War quilt too. That's on the top of my list to sew - a CW quilt. I finally got into my quilt stash and found a BOM I've had for years. Funny how you lose things after you move and then discover them later. Have you decided what border you'll put on it?

And that Sampler - I can't believe that you almost have that done. I bought that pattern years and years ago (along with a good friend of mine) and we were going to have a SAL. Obviously never happened. I'm just loving yours! That's a lot of work.

You have lots of things kitted up! I don't have much kitted up, I was thinking of doing ornaments this year after Shores is done... hmmmm...

Your civil war quilt is really cool, I like the fabrics you are using.

Oh wow! Love the couch and TV! We have very old TVs too -- I wonder if they're worth anything. Probably not old enough. lol! I'd love a flat screen TV, but not so far. Maybe some day! I also love the quilt your mom gave you and your New Year's start -- wow! And that oldest xs project. Wow! It's beautiful -- and so big! I'm rooting for you to finish it! Congrats on finishing Sail Away! I really need to get myself in gear and just finish that fence and those last words. Sigh. Happy New Year to you!

Well jiminy crickets Loraine, you go for a bit without posting and then hit us with all this eye candy... you need to put a warning on your posts that those prone to hyperventilation at the sight of crafty eye candy should have a paper bag nearby!! I love everything. Every. Thing. The new sofa--very nice. The big screen--fabulous!! I wanted one so badly for above our fireplace but nobody here could fix it so the wires weren't visible. I was told that'd have to be done during construction of the house. :P I'm sure that's just a thing for here. Urgh. Anyhoo, Sail Away looks great, the quilts look great, everything... beautiful!! I wish you and yours a very blessed new year.

I see your finished pictures of Sail Away! What great work, it looks lovely. I don't know about that over 1 though, it would drive me mad! Lovely once it's done though.

Nice to see your new acquisitions. How lovely it is to get new things for the house.

I love your Mum's gift. So special to recieve something she's made herself.

I think everyone has at least one UFO waiting to be picked up again and finished. I hope you get yours done for your dh to treaure.

Well done on all that kitting too! I need to kit more of my charts. Must be a great feeling to have so many of them ready to do?

WOW Loraine - Don't know where to start - first congratulations on finishing the Sail Away SAL - YGG - it is beautiful ! Your village piece was very neat - it was good you perservered and finished it for your husband. I LOVE your civil war repro quilt - If I was a quilter I'd have to do one of those - I am so drawn to that type of design in quilting - apparently I am not alone because it seems to be very popular among the quilters. your new objects for the home are lovely and much deserved I'm sure - your redwork piece by mom is wonderful - how neat you could do a matching quilt - can't wait to see what you pull out of your magic box of kits. many happy stitches to you Loraine in the new year and thanks for your support on my blog - Melody

Oh Loraine! All your projects are awesome--brave you for putting 2010 on that stitching girl! At least you have 12 months to make it happen. I adore that red and white bunny quilt your mother made you. LOVE your house and furnishings too. I want to come over and take a nap in that room!

Happy New Year, Sweet Loraine! I was so happy to see your post. Looks like both of us were out of blogland for a while! Love the new leather couch and what a lovely gift from your mom. WoW, your alphabet piece is amazing! What a lot of stitching it is (and yet a lot to go but you should finish it!).

So glad you finished your Sail Away. It really is a pretty piece and I am so glad we got it done! For all the folky stuff I love, I still love the soft colors and the sweetness of Shepherds Bush.

The civil war quilt is awesome. Rob and I bought an old chest not too long ago and the lining in one of the drawers, under some other layers of paper was a civil war era newspaper. It was so fun to find it.

Don't you love the big tv? My tiny one in my craft room serves me well but when I watch the biggie I feel like I'm at the movies.

Love that you have so many things kitted up. You have a grab and go pile!

Happy New Year!!!!
